The Journal Times is pleased to offer the following benefits to our employees:

Retirement Account Plan (401K) -

A qualified retirement plan has been designed for our employees to conveniently save part of their pay, on a regular and tax deferred basis.

Medical Insurance -

We know that every individual's medical needs are different. That is why we offer three different medical insurance options to our employees: a Low, Mid, and High-deductible plan. Employees choosing the high-deductible plan have the opportunity to contribute a Health Savings Account.

Dental Insurance -

Our dental insurance plan is Delta Dental and includes orthodontia coverage.

Vision Insurance -

You may choose between a Comprehensive Care Vision Plan and a Discount Plan. The Discount Plan is provided at no cost to employees and may be used to receive discounts on vision services.

Life Insurance -

The Company provides you with life insurance in the amount equal to your annual earnings, rounded to the next higher $1,000. You may purchase supplemental insurance up to four times your annual earnings. Spousal and dependent life insurance is also available.

Stock Purchase Plan -

The purpose of this plan is to enable eligible employees of the Company to acquire shares of Common Stock of Lee Enterprises, Inc. in a convenient manner and on a regular basis through payroll deductions at prices less than the market value.

Flexible Spending Accounts -

This benefit allows you to establish one or more reimbursement accounts with before-tax dollars. These benefit options can be used to reimburse you for out-of-pocket expenses that you and your dependents may incur for certain qualifying events. We offer two Flexible Spending Account options - a Health Care Account and a Dependent Care Account.

Wellness -

The Journal Times invests in the well-being of our employees and their health. We offer free flu vaccinations, wellness screenings and Health Risk Assessments. Employees have access to our Employee Assistance Program for counseling and coaching on a variety of personal or work-related issues. The Journal Times Wellness Teams offers programs throughout the year that are geared toward encouraging healthy lifestyles for our employees.

Vacation -
  • Length of Service as of October 1:
  • Under 5 years - Two (2) weeks of vacation in the fiscal year
  • 5-10 years - Three (3) weeks of vacation in the fiscal year
  • More than 10 years - Four (4) weeks of vacation in the fiscal year
Holidays -

The Journal Times observes six holidays annually. They are: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Personal Time -

Full-time employees receive 16 hours of paid personal time off per fiscal year. Part-time employees receive 4 hours of paid personal time off per fiscal year.

Sick Leave -

Each eligible employee will be granted up to 5 paid sick days each fiscal year. Employees starting after October 1st will have the number of sick days pro-rated for their first year.

Short-term Disability -

If after one year of employment you are unable to work for more than five days due to a serious illness, surgery or injury, your pay will continue under our short-term disability plan.

Long-term Disability -

After completion of a five-month elimination period, the long-term disability plan, which is coordinated with Social Security, provides eligible employees who are not able to return to work with an income.
