Appointments and promotions: Michael Torine, of Caledonia, has been promoted to senior associate at the Milwaukee-based office of the architecture /engineering firm of Hammel Green and Abrahamson Inc. Torine is a member of HGA's architectural staff serving as a project manager. His project experience includes Marshall Middle School, Janesville; Indian Trail Academy, Kenosha; and Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in architecture from the University of Minnesota. Torine is a registered architect in the state of Wisconsin and is a member of the American Institute of Architects.
Jeff Snyder, of Racine, has joined Medequip Home Health as senior sales executive. Snyder has 16 years experience in the medical field. He has worked as a EMT-1 and manager for a durable medical equipment company. Snyder has his bronze and silver certification in the Med group ``Chek Mark" program. Certification in these programs provides him with extensive experience in all phases of wheel chairs from manual to power. Snyder is responsible for the development of Medequips sales department, specializing in Rehab equipment and wheel chairs. Medequip has offices in Racine and Kenosha.
Cindy Barber has been promoted to assistant vice president private banking officer at Johnson Bank's office in Kenosha. Her responsibilities will include developing new business among corporate executives, business owners, medical and other professionals, as well as handling the personal financial needs of select commercial and trust clients. Barber joined Johnson Bank in 1978 holding various positions. Most recently, she was assistant vice president personal banker /business development. Barber is currently pursuing a business administration degree at Carthage College.
S.C. Johnson & Son Inc., 1525 Howe St., has announced the following appointments for worldwide consumer products: J. Brian Tuffin is appointed director of international sales development and director of sales for the Americas. Tuffin joined S.C. Johnson in 1993 as a category sales manager and later was appointed a marketing associate for Glade candles. His most recent position was sales director for the Americas. Prior to joining the company, he worked in sales and marketing at Procter & Gamble.
Lawrence E. Behringer has been appointed business manager, Do-It-Yourself business, responsible for formalizing this emerging business as well as developing long-term objectives and strategies that will help Johnson's North American consumer products division become a key supplier
to the do-it-yourself
Charles O. Haubrich is appointed regional operations director - Asia Pacific, providing direction for the 12 Johnson companies operating in the region. Since joining the company in 1970, Haubrich has handled many project engineering assignments, including full-time assignments in the Asia-Pacific where he was involved in building the Australian Johnson factory and renovating the Korean factory. Most recently he was project manager for building the S.C. Johnson factory in Vietnam.
Kenneth A. Boone is appointed business development manager in the corporate development group, which involves the company's acquisition, divestiture and joint venture opportunities. He joins S.C. Johnson from Amoco Corp. where he held a variety of positions in finance, strategy and information technology over an 11 year career. Most recently he served as financial consultant in Amoco's treasury department.
David J. Rost is appointed plant manager processing and technical services, which provides goods and services to the company's consumer products packaging plants. He joined the company in 1979 as an engineer in personal care process development and has held various technical and manufacturing positions, including process engineer and maintenance manager in Polymer manufacturing. His most recent position was consumer products processing plant manager.
The City of Racine Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department announced the hiring of Lesia Hill as supervisor of the Dr. John Bryant Community Center. Hill has a strong background in community service and a degree in social work from Carthage College. She is working to complete her masters degree in education, with an emphasis in psychotherapy. She is currently serving her third term on the Racine County Board of Supervisors and chairs the Human Services Committee. Hill is a life-long resident of Racine and has been actively involved in the Racine community serving on various committees and boards.
Certifications: Gulay S. Uygur has passed the certification examination and is board certified as a diplomate in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Uygur is an internist with All Saints Medical Group at 3807 Spring St.
Honors and awards: Donna Bell, broker associate with Coldwell Banker Beardsley and Associates, Burlington, has been named the office's top producer for 1998. Bell holds both the certified residential specialist and graduate Realtor Institute designations. She is a graduate of Western Illinois University with a bachelor of arts and master of science degrees.
ServiceMaster Residential /Commercial Services presented the achiever award to Tom Baker, owner of ServiceMaster By George, 1617 Ninth St., Racine, at its national convention recently held in Memphis, Tenn. Baker was recognized for achievements in residential services. The recipients who were honored at the convention represent the top performing franchise owners from over 3,500 businesses nationwide.
E.C. Styberg Engineering Company's 20-Year Club held its 39th annual dinner meeting at Racine Country Club for members and spouses. Seven employees were inducted and welcomed this year as new members. John Brown, Tom Leicht, Richard Johnson, Randall Gehrig, Michael Wilks, Michael Johnson, and Michael Gedemer. Total membership in the club is now 118 including retired employees.
Haban Manufacturing Inc., a Racine-based manufacturer of attachments for lawn, garden and small farm tractors, has recognized Midwest Screw Inc., also in Racine, with the Donald E. Zamel Vendor of the Year Award. Midwest produces a variety of components which are incorporated by Haban into its products. According to Richard F. Laabs, Haban's CEO, the award serves two purposes. First, it honors the memory of Donald E. Zamel, Haban's long time plant manager who passed away in 1997. Second, the award recognizes a supplier that consistently provides outstanding service to Haban. The presentation was made to David A. Bradshaw, president of midwest at Haban's annual employee recognition dinner.
Elections: Eugene A. Gasiorkiewicz, of Hanson & Gasiorkiewicz, S.C., 2932 Northwestern Ave., was elected to the board of directors of the Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers at its annual meeting on Dec. 4. The appointment will be for a two year period. Gasiorkiewicz was also re-listed in ``Who's Who in American Law and Who's Who in the World."
