Local contestant still in contention on TV's `Survivor'

Leann Slaby may be ready for her close-up.

The 35-year-old Kansasville resident survived another week on CBS's "Survivor:

Vanuatu."

But unlike past episodes, Slaby, 35, played a more prominent role on the reality TV show. After spending a lot of her time in the background, Slaby won a trivia challenge and was whisked away on a helicopter ride to a dormant volcano for a picnic lunch with fellow contestant Julie Berry.

At the end of the show, nobody voted to send Slaby home. She is one of eight remaining contestants who are competing for the $1 million prize. The show airs locally on channels 2 and 58 on Thursday nights at 7 p.m.
