Muskego students win Scholastic Key Awards
MUSKEGO -
Three students from Muskego High School have won Scholastic Key Awards: Jessica Linder, Ryan Tretow and Meena Kim each had work on display in the Milwaukee Art Museum from Jan. 27 through Feb. 24. They join 301 other students from 87 schools from around the state whose works were judged to be worthy of Gold and Silver Keys. The Scholastic competition and exhibition is the regional section of the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards National Program conducted by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers Inc. The competition is for seventh- through 12th-graders from around the country. The competition includes works in 17 media categories selected from 1,467 entries by a jury of 23 artists, educators and other art professionals. Student artists whose work was selected for exhibition were awarded 164 Gold Keys (sent on to national competition) and 170 Silver Key (special state recognition).
Linder, a sophomore, received a Gold Key for a cloisonné enamel; Tretow, a junior, received a Gold Key for an architectural design and drawing of a Muskego City Center; and Kim received a silver key for a water color.
Linder and Kim are students of Scot Plier, and Tretow is a student of Karen Lindholm-Rynkiewicz.
