Threat investigation leads to obstruction charge

CALEDONIA -

A Sunday police call that armed subjects were threatening someone locked in a gas station bathroom resulted in one person being arrested for obstructing an officer.

Police responded Sunday to Speedway, 4960 Douglas Ave., after receiving the call. When officers arrived, they found three individuals sitting in a car in the parking lot. The car matched the description given to dispatchers. Police removed the three from the car at gunpoint.

The man in the back seat behind the driver's seat initially gave officers a name of Carl Jones, however dispatchers were not able to locate that name on file. The man was then taken to the Sheriff's Department to determine his true identity.

At the sheriff's station, the man told officers he had given false information because there was a warrant out for his arrest from Sheboygan County and he then gave his real name. The man, James L. Shorter, 53, of Milwaukee, is charged with obstructing an officer, a misdemeanor. If convicted he could face up to $10,000 in fines and up to nine months imprisonment.

No further information on the case was available.
