Dogs rescued from blaze

Journal Times staff

YORKVILLE - Union Grove and Kansasville fire fighters responded at approximately 4:25 p.m. Wednesday to a fire at 3500 S. Sylvania Ave., a single-story ranch home listed to Jeffrey and Beverly Lee.

There were no injuries to people as a result of the fire, however two dogs were rescued from the home after they had been overwhelmed with smoke. The dogs were resuscitated and brought back to stable condition.

The Racine County Fire Investigation team is continuing to investigate the cause of the fire, which damaged the kitchen and caused smoke damage in the rest of the home.

Tom Czerniak, chief of the Union Grove/Yorkville Fire Department, said windows being closed in the home at the time of the fire caused the it to create smoke damage in the home on one hand, but also prevented the fire from escalating into significantly larger blaze.
