RACINE COUNTY - When some cops hit the streets Wednesday night, they really will be leaving some shoe rubber behind them.
Participating peace officers will take turns running across the county conveying an Olympic-like torch. Sgt. Brian Zimmermann of the Racine County Sheriff's Department said the Racine County portion of the run will commence around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in the vicinity of Highway 32 and the Racine/Kenosha County line where City of Racine officers will receive the torch from Kenosha County area officers.
Racine police will then convey the torch to the intersection of Highways 11 and 31, where Mount Pleasant officers will take over all the way to the sheriff's Ives Grove substation just west of I-94 in Yorkville, There Racine County deputies will take the torch into Walworth County.
