A 12-year-old child was seriously injured Monday afternoon in a car crash at 4:42 p.m. Monday on Highway 164 at South Loomis Road just north of Waterford.

According to the Racine County Sheriff Department’s preliminary investigation, an eastbound vehicle failed to yield to a car that was northbound on Highway 164. The 12-year-old was a passenger in the vehicle that was eastbound on Loomis. The 17-year-old driver of the eastbound car was not hurt. The driver of the northbound car received minor injuries.

As of 11:30 p.m. Monday, the Sheriff’s Department was not releasing names of those involved in the crash. A press release said the crash remains under investigation.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Department at the scene of the crash were The Town of Waterford and Norway police departments and Waterford, Wind Lake and Tichigan fire and rescue crews.
