Boat fire under investigation

RACINE — Reports said the boat was being stored outside Precise Contracting and Design, 2625 Lathrop Ave. A passerby called authorities just after 7 p.m. to report the fire.

Racine firefighters from the Blaine Avenue station arrived at the scene four minutes later and found the boat fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters had the fire under control within minutes. No one was injured.

Fire investigators estimated damage at $5,000, while police reports listed the damage estimate at $9,000.


The cause of the fire was still unknown Friday morning and police reported no known suspects. The matter remains under investigation.

City firefighters and police are investigating the cause of a boat fire Thursday night.
