Union Grove sub shop robbed

Tuesday, April 1, 2008 10:20 PM CDT

JOURNAL TIMES STAFF

UNION GROVE — Robbers, who may have been armed, took an undisclosed amount of money and sandwiches from the Union Grove Subway restaurant Monday night.

The Racine County Sheriff’s Department was notified of the incident at 1380 15th Ave. (Highway 11) at 8:58 p.m.

The robbers reportedly fled the restaurant in a powder blue or light-colored vehicle, perhaps a Chrysler Concorde, eastbound on Highway 11 toward Highway 45.

The robbers were described as two black males, both close to 6 feet in height and clean shaven. One was reported to weigh approximately 190 pounds and wore a black hoodie and had his hair in corn rows. The other was reported to have short hair and was wearing a black sweatshirt perhaps with a New York Yankees logo.

One of the suspects was reported to have indicated that he had a weapon in the pocket of his shirt, although the Sheriff’s Department reported that no actual weapon was seen.

The Sheriff’s Department late Monday could not say if the robbery was connected to a reported similar incident earlier Monday in Kenosha County.

No further information was available at press time. Call the Sheriff’s Department at (262) 636-3211 if you have information.
