House damaged by lightning

Wednesday, April 9, 2008 11:15 AM CDT

DOVER — A home incurred electrical damage and had several windows blown out after a lightning strike some time between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday at 22636 Schroeder Road, a quarter of a mile east of Highway 75.

The residence is located south of Highway 11 and north of the Racine/Kenosha County line.

According to Racine County Sheriff’s Department and Kansasville Fire Dept. officials, lightning struck a tree about 75 feet from the home, but the electrical charge traveled to a roadside telephone box and then followed wires to the connection box on the home.

There were no injuries and no resulting fire, said Asst. Chief Andy Aschauer of the Kansasville Fire Dept.
