Council votes to revoke Cera’s Tequila Bar’s liquor license

RACINE - The City Council unanimously voted Tuesday night to revoke the liquor license for Cera’s Tequila Bar, 607 Sixth St.

The revocation will take effect as soon as owner Cerafin Davalos receives written notice, said City Attorney Rob Weber. Davalos could still appeal the decision in court.

The Public Safety and Licensing Committee recommended the revocation after a more than five-hour meeting April 16 that included a dozen witnesses. The majority of the hearing concentrated on the Dec. 8, 2007, shooting of 16-year-old Autumn Ford outside the tequila bar.

Another Racine bar could also soon lose its liquor license. A public hearing will be next week on the liquor license for Rosie’s Bar, 1333 Douglas Ave. The Public Safety and Licensing Committee will hold a hearing at 5:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 730 Washington Ave., room 205.
