Mount Pleasant Police and Racine County Sheriff’s deputies responded Tuesday to a situation in the 3800 block of Maryland Avenue in Elmwood Park, where a man was reported to be in his home with an AK-47 assault rifle.

The call came in at about 5 p.m., when it was reported Arlyn Day, 68, was outside with the weapon.

Traffic in the area was restricted and authorities tried making contact with Day, going so far as to have Sheboygan County Sheriff’s deputies try making contact with his daughter.

Day was arrested at about 6:30 p.m. when he left his house to take his dog for a walk.

Racine police assisted in the incident, which is under investigation. It is unclear if Day was transported to jail or the hospital.
