YORKVILLE — An 18-year-old Silver Lake man is being treated at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital following a crash Wednesday morning at highways 20 and 45.
Flight for Life transported Michael S. Kaminski-Finney to the Wauwatosa hospital because the possibility that he suffered internal injuries in the collision was great, according to Racine County sheriff’s deputies. A condition report was not immediately available, however, deputies said Kaminski-Finney’s injuries did not appear life threatening.
Kaminski-Finney had to be extricated from his Honda Civic following the 9 a.m. crash.
Sheriff’s reports said he was driving north on Highway 45, stopped at the stop sign at Highway 20 and then drove into the path of an eastbound Nissan. The driver of the Nissan, Jaime Flader, 31, of Illinois, told deputies she tried to turn and avoid a collision, but struck the driver’s side of Kaminski-Finney’s car.
Rescue workers from Union Grove Yorkville Fire and Rescue had to extricate Kaminski-Finney from his car. Deputies said his Honda Civic was nearly bent in half due to the impact. The driver’s seat was almost in the passenger’s seat.
Flader suffered very minor injuries in the crash. She was walking and talking to authorities at the scene.
No citations have been issued in the crash yet. The Racine County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating.
