In Brief: Beaches closed; Homes robbed; Fire confined to bathroom
TOWN OF BURLINGTON - The Aukes Beach and Town/Public Beach at Bohners Lake are closed due to high bacteria counts in the water. The closure serves as a warning that the water is unsafe for swimming.
The beaches will remain closed until water samples demonstrate safe bacterial levels. Water samples will be collected daily until safe levels are reached.

Homes robbed
Tuesday, according to the Caledonia Police Department.
The suspects gained entry to each home by smashing rear windows with a large patio brick. Jewelry and a handgun are among the items reported missing.
Fire confined to bathroom
RACINE - A 5-year-old playing with a lighter caused a fire at about
8 p.m. Tuesday in the bathroom of a home at 1406 College Ave.
According to the Racine Fire Department, the child and his mother and sister were alerted to the fire by a smoke detector and exited the home safely.
The fire was confined to the bathroom and contained and extinguished by fire crews. Damage is estimated at $1,000.
