CALEDONIA
Intruder found in home
A couple, awoken just after 5 a.m. Wednesday by the sound of a dog barking in an outside kennel, found a man inside their home in the 3500 block of Taurus Drive.
The male homeowner, 28, said he confronted the stranger who said was looking for a place to stay because it was cold outside. The man then left the home and the couple called police.
Learning of the man’s situation, the couple declined to press charges. Police made arrangements to get the man returned to Illinois.
CALEDONIA
A 50-year-old Racine man said he had a pistol pointed at him after he confronted occupants of a van after the vehicle cut off his car just after 6 p.m. Wednesday on northbound Douglas Avenue at 4 Mile Road.
According to village police reports, the man was in his car in the right lane of the northbound lanes of Douglas and was stopped for a red light at 4 Mile. In the left lane was a van with four to five females who appeared to be teenagers.
When the light turned green, the man said the van abruptly pulled in front of his vehicle. Angry, the man followed the van into the parking lot of Pick ’n Save. When the van parked, the man got out of his car and walked to the van. Then the driver allegedly told the man “If you don’t leave, I’ll run your fat ass over.”
Then a passenger in the back of the van leaned forward and displayed the gun. The man said at that point he feared for his safety and backed away. The van then left the lot.
CALEDONIA
Tires mysteriously appear in yard
A 67-year-old Caledonia man left his home in the 4000 block of 3 Mile Road just after 11 a.m. Wednesday. When he returned, just before noon, he found 31 tires on the west side of his driveway. Racine County Sheriff’s deputies said the man did not know who might be responsible. The tires were of various sizes, the sheriff’s report indicates.
RACINE
Suspect points gun at teen
A 16-year-old boy told Racine police that someone pointed a gun at him on Thursday night in the 1300 block of Kewaunee Street.
Reports said the teen was walking west on Kewaunee around 9:40 p.m. when he saw the suspect standing in the road. The suspect allegedly pointed a handgun at the boy and threatened to shoot him.
The teen told police he ignored the man, who he knows from the neighborhood and has had problems with before, and walked away.
RACINE
Boy assaulted, robbed of phone
A 12-year-old boy was assaulted and robbed while walking home from school Thursday afternoon, Racine police said.
Reports said the boy was near High Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive when the suspect came up and pushed him to the ground. The boy told police the suspect kicked him numerous times in the ribs, causing his cell phone to fall out of his pocket.
The suspect allegedly picked up the phone and fled.
RACINE
Teen robbed by armed, masked suspects
Police said a 17-year-old was robbed by three suspects wearing bandanas over their faces in the 400 block of Randolph Street Tuesday night.
Reports said the teen parked his car around 10:10 p.m. and saw the three suspects walking toward him. When the teen got to the front door of a home on Randolph, the suspects grabbed him, police said.
He told officers that one of the suspects pushed a gun into his cheek and told him not to say anything or he would shoot. Reports said the suspects went through the teen’s pockets and took $5 and his keys, before fleeing the area headed south.
CITY OF BURLINGTON
School restroom vandalized
Graffiti, including racial slurs and vulgar slogans and also one posting that read “Go Cowboys,” was found on the afternoon of Nov. 18 in a second-floor boys’ restroom at Burlington High School, city police reported. The cost to clean up the damage is estimated at $50, school officials said. Police said they had no suspects.
MOUNT PLEASANT
Dryer fire extinguished
Village fire officials told police that built up lint in a dryer was the cause of a fire that was reported just before 9 a.m. Tuesday at a residence at 4325 Westway Ave. There were no injuries and the fire was contained to the dryer unit.
The build up caused clothing in the dryer to ignite, reports indicate. There was no estimate on damage.
MOUNT PLEASANT
Teens cited for disorderly conduct
Several teenagers received citations for disorderly conduct after village police investigated reports of two vehicles in a chase and possible shots fired at approximately 2 p.m. Nov. 14 in the vicinity of Pheasant Creek Trail and South Emmertsen Road.
Police were able to locate one of the vehicles at Case High School and learned that what was happening was horseplay involving students driving around shooting off bottle rockets. Police said the teens cooperated during the investigation.
MOUNT PLEASANT
Yard display wrecked
Police said it appears a vehicle drove into a holiday yard display sometime over the night of Nov. 16 and early morning of Nov. 17 at a residence in the 3000 block of Meachem Road.
A decorative scarecrow, antique wagon wheel, a metal sign pole and a wood witch decoration were all found damaged. Damage is estimated at $260.
Police said tire tracks were found on the lawn and it appeared the vehicle just missed a utility pole.
VILLAGE OF WATERFORD
Wheelchair missing
A wheelchair was taken sometime between 8:30 and 10:11 a.m. Nov. 19 from the front of a residence in the 200 block of South River Street.
A 66-year-old man told village police he had left the chair in front of the home when he and his wife left for a physical therapy appointment. The man told police that it is possible someone thought they were discarding the chair. No value was listed for the missing item.
TOWN OF BURLINGTON
Deer hunter cited for trespassing
Marcus P. Ebbers, 23, 217 N. Dodge St., Burlington, was cited for criminal damage to property and trespassing for allegedly going onto private property near Long Lake for deer hunting.
The caretaker of the 100-plus acre property which has access from Teut Road, said he found a tree stand moved, shooting lanes cut into the brush and evidence that a deer had been gutted.
A Berwyn, Ill., man owns the property.
Ebbers was cited on Wednesday, four days after the caretaker reported the property. Ebbers was tracked down after town police checked out tips that a man was bragging about a kill in the Long Lake area and had made arrangements with a taxidermist.
