RACINE — Strouf Funeral Home, 1001 High St., has become a certified veterans and family memorial care provider. In addition to providing veterans and their spouses with a 10 percent discount on funeral and cremation arrangements, these funeral homes encourage veterans to use their free burial benefit guaranteed them by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Choosing a veterans state or national cemetery for burial saves an average of $5,000-$7,000 per person, according to Mark Davis, president and chief executive officer of Veterans and Family Memorial Care.

A recent VA survey showed that at least one-third of all veterans were unaware that they were entitled to free burials at any of the nation’s 125 national cemeteries, Davis stated in a news release.

To register for free burial benefit or veterans pre-need funeral discount, call Strouf Funeral Home at (262) 632-5101.
