Man shot early Saturday morning

RACINE—A 24-year-old Racine man was shot in the back around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the Racine Police Department.

Racine police responded to a report of shots fired in the 900 block of South Memorial Drive. As police responded to the area they received a call from staff at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints hospital, 3801 Spring St., about a patient who had been shot.

The victim, who suffered from a single gunshot would to the back, had been taken to the hospital by friends, according to police. The victim, who said he was shot from behind, was unable to provide police with a description of the person who fired the gun.

The victim is expected to live, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
