Western Racine County Health Department

BLOOD PRESSURE CLINICS: These blood pressure clinics have been scheduled:


* Jan. 8, Hometown Village, 1415 13th Ave., Union Grove, 9:30-10 a.m.; Burlington Senior Center, 201 N. Main St., Burlington, 11 a.m.-noon.

* Jan. 13, Tichigan Civic Center, 6710 Big Bend Road, Waterford, 12:30-1 p.m.,; St. Clare’s Catholic Church, 7616 Fritz St., Wind Lake, 1:30-2:30 p.m.

Immunizations Clinics: Children’s vaccines include vhicken pox, diphtheria, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, Hib meningitis, HPV, measles, meningococcal, mumps, pertussis, pneumococcal, polio, rotavirus, rubella and tetanus. Resident fees: Administration fee is $5 per visit. Maximum charge of $20 for a resident family. Resident’s fees will be waived in the event of financial difficulties. Non-resident fees: Administration fee is $10 per visit. Maximum charge $40 for a non-resident family. Adults: Tetanus, $5 resident, $10 non-resident; hepatitis B, $35 for resident, $45 others; and TB skin test (must call 24 hours in advance to schedule), $5 residents and $10 others. Residents should check other locations for adult flu and pneumonia vaccines for ages 9 and older (for more information, call (800) 688-4950 or (262) 763-4930).

City of Racine Health Department

IMMUNIZATION CLINICS: The City of Racine offers immunization clinics in the City Hall Room 4, 730 Washington Ave., on the days listed. A $7 fee is requested for residents of the city of Racine, Elmwood Park and Wind Point; and $15 for non-residents; however, there is no charge if people are unable to pay. People should bring their child’s current immunization records.

* Tuesdays — 4-6 p.m.

* Wednesdays — 1:15-4 p.m.

BLOOD PRESSURE CLINICS: The City of Racine Health Department will offer blood pressure screening by appointment for City of Racine, Elmwood Park and Wind Point residents. Call (262) 636-9431.

Visiting Nurse Community Care Inc.

Health Screenings: Visiting Nurse Community Care Inc. provides diagnostic health screens weekly from 10 a.m. to noon Mondays and 2 to 4 p.m. Fridays at the offices of Nutritional Designs & Pharmacy, 2333 Northwestern Ave. For information and appointments, call (262) 656-8400.

Kenosha Visiting Nurse Association

SHINGLES VACCINATIONS: People who have had chickenpox are at risk for shingles. The risk for shingles increases as a person gets older. Shingles is painful and can cause serious problems. There is no way to tell who will get shingles or when it may occur. A single dose of shingles vaccine is recommended for adults age 60 and older and for those who have not had shingles. It is a one-time vaccination. Fee: $225. The Kenosha Visiting Nurse Association offices are at 600 52nd St., Suite 300, Kenosha. Caledonia/Mount Pleasant Health Department

IMMUNIZATIONS: Immunizations for children and adults are offered at regularly scheduled clinics. Fees are $7 for all Caledonia, Mount Pleasant, Sturtevant and North Bay residents; $10 for all non-residents.

Immunizations include varicella (Chicken Pox), DTaP, Td, polio, HIB, MMR and hepatitis B. Immunizations for adults include tetanus and hepatitis B. TB skin tests are offered by appointment only by calling (262) 835-6429. Clients must return to the health department 48-72 hours later for the test to be read. * First Thursday of the month: Mount Pleasant Village Hall, 6126 Durand Ave. (Highway 11 and 31), 4-5 p.m.

* Second Monday of the month: Caledonia-Mount Pleasant Health Department Office, 10005 Northwestern Ave. (Highway K), Franksville, 4-5:30 p.m.

* Third Thursday of January: Caledonia-Mount Pleasant Health Department Office, 10-11 a.m.

* Fourth Thursday of the month: East Side Community Center, 6156 Douglas Ave., Caledonia, 4-5:30 p.m.

Fitness File is published every Wednesday and includes notices of nonprofit fitness and health-related programs.
