MOUNT PLEASANT - Sixty-five workers here are in the process of reapplying for their jobs, following a switch of suppliers by Case-New Holland.
CNH had been using APL Logistics for 13 years as its provider for trucking, warehousing and distribution. APL holds tractor parts and ships them to the tractor assembly plant as needed for production, explained Delisa Yaeger, APL's general manager here.
However, based on bids, CNH recently opted to switch to Logistics Insight Corp. of Detroit for those services. As of Friday, the 65 APL employs here will no longer have jobs with that company.
Yaeger said the employees have been interviewing for the past few weeks with Logistics Insight; if hired, they will continue to work here, but for the new employer.
How many will be picked up by Logistics Insight could not immediately be determined. No one from the company could be reached for comment Monday.
APL's local facility is located at 7100 Durand Ave., just across Oakes Road from the CNH tractor assembly plant. CNH holds the lease on that facility and will transfer it to the new logistics supplier, Yaeger said.
APL is a global company with nearly $1.3 billion in revenue, and is a subsidiary of the $8.2 billion NOL Group.
