STURTEVANT - JohnsonDiversey has announced it has tripled its greenhouse gas reduction goal under the World Wildlife Fund's Climate Savers program.

The company's original pledge of an 8 percent reduction, made in 2008, is now 25 percent. The company said it will be achieved in the original time frame ending in 2013.

JohnsonDiversey said in a news release that it is one of the first Climate Savers partners to substantially increase its commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The company said it will invest an estimated

$14 million to reduce emissions and will capture cost savings of approximately $32 million.

The reductions will come from operating efficiencies and targeted actions across every aspect of the company, Sturtevant-based

JohnsonDiversey said.

It will not be achieved by purchasing green energy, utilizing another source's offsets or the sole reliance on installing the latest technologies.

JohnsonDiversey provides commercial cleaning, sanitation and hygiene products to the lodging, food service, retail, health care and food and beverage sectors. It is one of four companies controlled by the Johnson family of Racine.
