A bunch of stuff.
Business reporter Michael Burke first reported on this development back in February.
In January, Big Bend Development of Brookfield started construction of a 16,250-square-foot retail center at the intersection's northwest corner.
Four tenants were already committed, including two restaurants new to Racine County.
The 2.25-acre site is near the shopping center which includes Sentry Foods and Kohl's Department Store. One of the two access points will be from that center. The other will be a shared driveway with Advance Auto Parts and Taco Bell on Highway 20.
Sean Osborne, senior vice president for Milwaukee's Inland Cos., is securing tenants for the space. Tenants to-be include:
* Georgie Porgie's, a restaurant with a treehouse atmosphere that is described as a "burger and custard hangout." The only other one of its kind is at 9555 S. Howell Ave., Oak Creek. For more on Georgie Porgie's, go to
http://www.georgieporgies.com
* Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwich Shop, a national franchise based in Champaign, Ill. The nearest Jimmy John's franchises are in Kenosha, Oak Creek and Franklin. For more information, go to
http://www.jimmyjohns.com
* Sports Clips, a men's hair salon with a sports theme - another national franchise.
* An AT&T corporate store that will occupy roughly 4,000 square feet.
Osborne recently told Burke he is negotiating with a dental group for a good portion of the remaining space.
Parts of the development are expected to be done by summer.
How were the presidents who grace Mount Rushmore selected?
The presidents were selected on the basis of what each symbolized.
George Washington represents the struggle for independence. Thomas Jefferson represents the idea of government by the people.
Abraham Lincoln represents equality and the permanent union of the states.
Theodore Roosevelt represents the United States' role in world affairs in the 20th century.
The Mount Rushmore National Memorial is 23 miles southwest of Rapid City, S.D., in the heart of the Black Hills.
Sculptor Gutzon Borglum chose the mountain because of its height (5,700 feet above sea level), the soft grainy consistency of the granite and the fact that it catches the sun for the greatest part of the day.
The granite faces of the four presidents are scaled for men who would stand 465 feet tall.
Who said the phrase "Go West, young man?"
John Soule originally wrote the phrase in the Terre Haute (Ind.) Express in 1851. However, the phrase is commonly attributed to Horace Greeley, editor of the New York Tribune from the 1840s to the 1870s.
Greeley was a founder of the liberal Republican Party and used his paper to promote the Whig and Republican parties, along with the abolition of slavery and a slate of other reforms considered radical at the time.
He railed against perceived corruption in Ulysses S. Grant's presidential administration and ran against the incumbent in 1872. He was crushed in a Grant landslide.
He died in 1872 after his wife died and he lost the election and his newspaper.
