Dr. Steven Armus of Caledonia is due in court Aug. 27 at the Kenosha County Courthouse, 912 56th St. in Kenosha, for a pre-trial conference.

The founder of Great Lakes Dermatology was arrested in April after a traffic stop when a Kenosha County sheriff's deputy found him with 26.6 grams of cocaine and $4,400, according to reports. Armus is charged with possession of cocaine with intent to deliver and faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

According to court records from April, Armus went to a rehab program out of state. Cathy Dean, administrator for Great Lakes's clinics, said he's practicing again at the company's several sites.

The state agency that licenses doctors hasn't disciplined Armus, according to Department of Regulation and Licensing spokesman David Carlson. He wouldn't discuss whether any investigations are ongoing.

How cold does it have to get before the giraffes are kept inside at the Racine Zoo?

Their species might be from equatorial Africa, but these critters are hardy stock.

The two male Masai giraffes are allowed to roam outside until the wind chill dips below 35 degrees, said Jay Christie, CEO of the Racine Zoo. Staff members keep a list with temperature requirements for each animal.

Between 35 and 45 degrees, the giraffes have the option of going into the barn or staying out. At temperatures of 45 and up, they're supposed to be outside. As Wisconsin winters go, that's tropical.

When a speed limit or no-right-turn-on-red sign says "when children are present," does that mean whenever you can see them or only during school hours?

It means when children are on the sidewalk, said Lt. Al Days of the Racine Police Department. If the students are all where they're supposed to be during the school day - in school - the regular limit applies.

Why won't Target hire 16- or 17-year-old workers? A sign said the Racine store was hiring, but when my daughter applied and listed her age she was told no jobs were available.

The company does hire minors for many positions, but some jobs require applicants to be 18, Target spokesman Kyle Thompson said. There are various reasons for that. For example, the available positions at the 5300 Durand Ave. store may sometimes include overnight shifts, Thompson said, which the girl couldn't take under labor laws.

The reader wondered if it's even legal to ask for an applicant's date of birth. It is.
