Typically those get charged to whatever branch of the military is whooshing overhead, said Lt. Tim Page, a Navy spokesman. I've seen all kinds of aircraft at Lambeau Field.
He didn't know how much an individual flight costs taxpayers, but Page said those are considered training missions that would need to be flown anyway. Maybe they can be persuaded to buzz the opposing kicker.
The Orlando Sentinel ran a story in February 2008 indicating a Super Bowl fly-over cost $36,000. Some analysts have dismissed these stunts as waste, while military spokesmen argue the publicity is worth it.
If a pilot needs to stay overnight, the hotel bill goes to the team or event coordinator, Page said. Not all requests for fly-overs are approved, so I may have to delete the Blue Angels from my son's birthday party program.
How much did the fireworks display cost in Racine?
It's a cost-conscious day here at Glad You Asked. This year's Fourth Fest extravaganza cost about $40,000, Fireworks Chairman Curt Barnes said.
That's split between sponsors, Fourth Fest and the City of Racine. The city's portion was $17,500, Barnes said.
For the past decade or so, the July 4 fireworks show has been put on by Melrose Pyrotechnics.
There's a radio program out of Minnesota called "A Prairie Home Companion." Can you tell me which radio stations in Racine carry it?
For a guy from the Land of 10,000 Lakes, that Garrison Keillor sure has dry humor. He's the one who exhorts listeners to "look reality straight in the eye and deny it."
No denying the reality that the show is available on at least three stations in the area. According to the show's Web site, it can be heard on WGTD (91.1 FM); WHAD (90.7 FM) and WUWM (89.7 FM) at 5 p.m. Saturdays. "Prairie Home" is also broadcast Sundays at 10 a.m. on WHAD and noon on WUWM.
Johnny Carson had a chain of restaurants, and I'm pretty sure he planned to open one on Douglas Avenue. Does anyone remember where?
Even Karnak couldn't predict the quick rise and fall of the Here's Johnny restaurants, whose owners got permission in 1967 to use Carson's famous intro. Now dinner plates from the short-lived operation are being auctioned as collectors' items.
If anyone can provide this answer, you'll be as trusty a sidekick as the late Ed McMahon.
