POINSETTIA PLANTS FOR SALE

The Racine Symphony Orchestra will be selling poinsettia plants from Milaeger's, with pickup scheduled at the orchestra's Holiday Pops Concert Dec. 7 at the Racine Civic Centre, 5 Fifth St. Plants are available in red, white or pink in two different sizes. The 7-inch pot costs $13 or two for $25, and the 8-inch pot costs $22. To place an order, send your check payable to the RSO to the Racine Symphony Orchestra, P.O. Box 1874, Racine, WI 53401. Credit card orders will be taken over the phone by calling the Symphony office at (262) 636-9285. All pre-orders must be received by Thursday. A limited number of plants will be sold the night of the concert. Gift flex passes are available for $75 for four concert passes. They can be used for any of the three remaining concerts on Feb. 8, March 14 or May 16.

CHRISTMAS COOKIE SALE

Christ the King Lutheran Church is holding a Christmas cookie sale. Orders will be taken through Sunday. Cookies cost $7.50 a pound. To place an order, call (262) 633-3281. Orders will be ready for pickup from 4 to 5 p.m. Dec. 2 at the church, 3350 La Salle St.

FUDGE SALE

Plymouth Congregational Church, 1143 College Ave., is selling its award-winning homemade chocolate fudge. The cost is $4 for a half-pound box (with or without nuts). Orders must be placed by Dec. 9 by calling the church at (262) 633-6039. Orders may be picked up at the church Dec. 16.

Sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Eagles Racine Aerie 281, 8-11 a.m. Sunday, Eagles Club, 319 Hamilton St. The menu includes omelets, eggs, toast, bacon, sausage, fried potatoes, pancakes, french toast and a full selection of beverages, including coffee and bloody Marys. Items are sold individually. Open to the public.

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA

Sponsored by the Recreation Club, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, Racine Masonic Center, 1012 Main St. The menu includes pancakes, stuffed and regular french toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, orange juice, coffee, tea and milk. Costs are $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

Dec. 1

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA

Sponsored by the Waterford Lioness Club, 8:30-11 a.m. Dec. 1, at Evergreen School, 817 W. Main St., Waterford. Tickets cost $3 each and are available in advance at Pick 'n Save, Carr's Floral and Community State Bank, all in Waterford. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit with the children until noon. Santa's Secret Shop will be open for children to choose two gifts, get holiday temporary tattoos and write a letter to Santa. Cookies will be available for purchase. Each child who brings a non-perishable food item donation will have their name entered in the drawing for a king-sized stocking filled with goodies.

MRS. SANTA'S PANTRY

Honey Creek Community Baptist Church, 35512 Washington Ave. (Highway D), Honey Creek, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 1. Christmas cookies and candy, bakery and crafts will be sold. The church's Sunday school will be selling lunch with proceeds benefiting their adopted family.

HI-FI CHRISTMAS PARTY BENEFIT

McAuliffe's Pub, 3700 Meachem Road, 8 p.m. Dec. 1. Admission is $7 at the door. Entertainment includes Jill Plaisted, The Loners, 89 Mojo, The Bradburys and Smokestack Lightning. There will also be a silent auction and 50/50 cash raffle, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to The Blood Center for research of Von Willebrand disease. VWD is a bleeding disorder similar to hemophilia. The daughter of Dan Pavelich, one the band members of The Bradburys, was born with the disease.

Dec. 2

COOKIE WALK AND CHRISTMAS FAIR

St. Edward's Catholic Church, 1425 Grove Ave., 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 2. A wide variety of cookies will be sold in coffee cans for $5, $10 and $15. Cash and themed baskets will be raffled and food will be sold.

ETHAN TALECK BENEFIT

A mostaccioli dinner will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at the Buona Vita Restaurant, 3701 Durand Ave. Ethan Taleck, 6, suffers from Glioblastoma Multiforme, which is a rare disease that causes numerous tumors to form in the body. Only two to three people per 100,000 re diagnosed with this disease each year. It is an uncommon and aggressive cancer that has afflicted Ethan in many ways. Currently there are tumors in his brain which have caused him to lose and regain his vision at different intervals.

The benefit features a silent auction, bake sale and entertainment, along with the mostaccioli dinner which includes salad and bread. Admission is $10. Additional donations can be made at Educators Credit Union to the Ethan Taleck Benefit.

Dec. 8

CHANUKAH DINNER

Beth Israel Sinai Congregation, 944 Main St., 6 p.m. Dec. 8. A kosher meal will be served featuring homemade potato latkes, applesauce and kosher beef brisket. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for children under age 13. A menorah lighting and a brief service will be part of the celebration. The public is invited to attend. Reservations are required by Dec. 3 by calling (262) 633-7093.

"What's Going On" includes upcoming events in and around Racine County such as breakfasts, dinners, car washes, rummage sales, parties and dances intended to be money-raisers by or in behalf of nonprofit community organizations, either held or requiring reservations within the next two weeks.
