Racine Theatre Guild

Children's Service Society of Wisconsin

- Cell phones and laptop computers for Intensive In-home team (3)

The in-home therapy team is out in the community all day, every day. Therefore, if each staff had a company cell phone, it would enable families to reach them quickly in emergency situations. It would also help to ensure the safety of the therapy team. Laptop computers would be very helpful for the in-home staff could complete paper work in the field when they have breaks in between appointments.

- Books and Coloring books to help children talk about their experiences of abuse or domestic violence: "Something Happened and I'm Scared to Tell," "It's MY Body," "Something is Wrong at My House," "The Trouble with Secrets," the "Let's Talk" coloring book set.

These books normalize children's experiences about abuse and domestic violence, and help children open up and share what happened to them. They are available in English and Spanish versions. We would prefer to have two sets for our Racine and Burlington office locations.

- Jewelry kits for children seen at the Child Advocacy Center

Older children at the Racine County Child Advocacy Center would benefit from a healthy age-appropriate activity to do when they have to wait during different parts of the evaluation. We are requesting a number of small individualized kits for kids and teens to make bracelets and necklaces.

- Distraction tools for children's medical exams at the Racine County Child Advocacy Center

A medical exam is a necessary piece of a comprehensive evaluation for abuse and neglect. When conducting a medical exam it's great for kids to have something to distract them. "I Spy" books and viewfinders are easy ways to help kids relax.

- Supplies for creating behavioral charts with families

The new Community Response Program will be doing a lot of work with parents to develop positive parenting skills to prevent future child abuse. One commonly used tool is to work with parents on developing behavioral charts so they can better manage their children's behaviors. CSSW could use a large supply of poster board, markers and stickers so the worker can create these charts right on the spot when he or she meets with the family.

UW-Extension Family Living Program

- Simultaneous interpretation equipment for Racine County UW-Extension programs to be provided simultaneously in Spanish. Equipment needed - one transmitter, antenna and power supply and microphone; one battery-powered transmitter and microphone, 12 personal one-channel receivers, 24 folding headsets; 24 headset splitters; protective case for equipment.

- Volunteer to assemble Parenting the First Year Newsletters, 1st Issue (4 times a year - approximately 400 to 500 newsletters. Volunteer would stamp and attach postcard, and deliver to City of Racine Health Department and Caledonia/Mount Pleasant Health Department) Complete training and all materials provided.

- Volunteer to provide end-of-month data entry services. Approximately one-two hours. Complete training and materials provided.

- Laptop for individual use of CD-ROM parent education program, Parenting Wisely (SAMHSA Model Program)

In addition, the Food Bank also maintains a collection barrels at all of the Pick 'n Save and Piggly Wiggly locations East of I-94.

The Racine Family YMCA

- Four to eight volunteers to help with set-up and take-down for the Lighthouse Run on June 19 afternoon/early evening and late morning on June 20. Must be able to do heavy lifting.
