RACINE - The Racine City Council approved a resolution Tuesday supporting regional transit and commuter rail.
City Council President David Maack sponsored the resolution which states the city "expresses its strong support" for the Kenosha-Racine-Milwaukee commuter rail and the Regional Transit Authority.
According to the resolution, a commuter rail through Racine would foster development and connect Racine to economic growth.
A week earlier the County Board also passed a resolution supporting regional transit.
The city clerk will send copies to Gov. Jim Doyle and local state representatives, the resolution states.
