CALEDONIA

Man charged after car hits bike

A 21-year-old South Milwaukee man is facing numerous pending charges after a car hit a bicyclist just after 6 p.m. Oct. 8 at the intersection of 4 Mile Road and North Green Bay Road.

Marty A. Swenson was cited for failure to yield the right of way, his third offense of operating while revoked, and causing injury while operating while revoked.

Caledonia police said Samuel Pierce-Ruhland, 17, the bicyclist, suffered a leg injury, perhaps a broken bone, in the crash.

Police reports indicate Swenson was westbound on 4 Mile and was turning south onto North Green Bay and did not see Pierce-Ruhland.

CALEDONIA

Suspect sought after chase

An arrest warrant was issued Oct. 8 in Milwaukee County for a 26-year-old Racine County man for bail jumping and criminal trespass to a dwelling,

Caledonia police have also asked the district attorney to consider additional charges following a nearly four-mile car pursuit of the same individual on Oct. 7.

The suspect's mother, who resides on Highway V, called Caledonia police at 8:20 p.m. Oct. 7 to report that she was afraid of her son and that he may be on his way to the family home to harm her. Caledonia police ran the man's records and found that his license was revoked. Officers then went on the look out for the suspect's car.

An officer observed the car near intersection of 7 Mile road and Highway V and attempted to stop it. Instead, the suspect drove north into Milwaukee County. Caledonia police pursued the vehicle for 3.8 miles through Oak Creek, reaching speeds of 75 mph in the process. Caledonia police eventually lost track of the car, but Oak Creek police found it unoccupied and had it impounded.

Later Caledonia police heard from a 22-year-old Oak creek woman who said she was a passenger in the car during the chase along with her two young children.

Caledonia police have asked that charges of fleeing and eluding, three counts of recklessly endangering safety, bailjumping, operating a vehicle after revocation and speeding be filed against the suspect.

It was not clear as of Oct. 10 if the Caledonia and Milwaukee County cases are related.
