MOUNT PLEASANT - Johnson Insurance will soon open a new service center here, consolidating employees from elsewhere and hiring a handful more.

Company President and Chief Executive Officer Christian Lie made the announcement Friday. On about July 12, he said, Johnson Insurance will take over the office at 13303 Washington Ave., last occupied by Countrywide Home Loans.

The 10,500-square-foot center will house 50 employees, most of whom will move from elsewhere including the Johnson Building, 555 Main St. in Racine. About five or six people will be new hires, Lie said.

Johnson Insurance one of the state's largest independent insurance agencies. The company now has four regional service centers in Wisconsin - in Green Bay, Madison, Eau Claire, and Janesville. The centers offer commercial, casualty and property, and employee benefits services.

Johnson Insurance is a $22 million agency with more than 200 employees throughout Wisconsin and Arizona.

It is a subsidiary of Johnson Financial Group, a $5.2 billion financial services company which also includes Johnson Bank.

Johnson Insurance was started in the late 1980s and has grown through acquisition nine times in the past 12 years.
