SOMERS - The University of Wisconsin-Parkside will be holding public forums starting this week for the university's top position.
A search committee for the university's next chancellor has narrowed the list down to five candidates. The first public forum will be held Friday.
Chancellor Jack Keating will be retiring August 5 after ten years of service.
"We will have a person in place by then," said Parkside spokesman Dave Buchanan.
The university has not released the names of the candidates, but will likely release them later this week, Buchanan said.
"We have what we think are five extremely promising candidates," Buchanan said.
The public will be given a chance to meet the first candidate at a public forum Friday. It will be held 9:45 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. in Greenquist Hall in room 103.
The other candidates will have separate public forums on May 5, 6, 8 and 9. They will be held 9:45 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. in the Communication Arts Theatre inside the Communication Arts Building.
