TOWN OF BURLINGTON - Debra Lange's problems with loose pit bulls in her neighborhood keep getting exacerbated.
Not only has she endured two chases by a neglectful neighbor's loose canines, a report in Wednesday's Journal Times on the most recent incident had the facts wrong, incorrectly stating that Lange was the person cited for the loose dogs.
When The Journal Times printed a correction Friday, Lange's last name was misspelled.
In the most recent incident on Dec. 15, Lange was walking with family members on Valley Drive in her Bohners Lake neighborhood when she was charged by the dogs.
"We were terrified. We were screaming in the streets," said Lange, who was not injured.
A short time after Lange's call to Town of Burlington police, an anonymous caller told police he had just witnessed pit bulls running at large in the vicinity of Fish Hatchery Road and McHenry Street (Highway P). Police did not find the dogs in that area, but did find paw prints.
A person was cited in the Dec. 15 incident, but access to police records could not be arranged Friday to verify the name.
Lange said she has been frustrated with ongoing problems with the dogs. In addition to town police, she also has sought help from officials at Countryside Humane Society.
