Steve Lovejoy has been named editor of The Journal Times, Publisher Richard R. Johnston announced Wednesday.
Lovejoy has been Opinion Page editor of the newspaper for the past 10 years and was previously news editor.
He has served as Interim editor for the past seven weeks.
In his new post, Lovejoy will be responsible for all aspects of editorial planning and news management of the daily newspaper and The Journal Times online operations. He is on the Editorial Board and a member of the newspaper's operational planning team.
A native of La Crosse, Lovejoy, 59, was assistant city editor of The Wisconsin State Journal and also worked as a reporter there for 15 years before coming to Racine to be news editor in 1986.
He is married to Cindy Post Lovejoy, who teaches kindergarten at St. Rita School.
They have three sons. He also has a son and daughter by a previous marriage.
Reporter Hired
Brendan O'Brien has joined the Journal Times as a general assignment reporter.
O'Brien will concentrate on local government and hard news coverage with an emphasis in Caledonia and Mount Pleasant.
O'Brien, 36, is from Evanston, Ill. He worked as a reporter at the North Shore Herald, a Journal Communications weekly, and the Ozaukee Press in Port Washington before coming to the Journal Times a month ago.
He is married to Melanie O'Brien. The couple has three daughters and resides in Greenfield.
