Woman receives frightening phone call

Caledonia police were called to the workplace of a woman at 1:45 p.m. March 11 who said a man called and told her he had her 30-year-old daughter.

Reports said the male caller specifically asked for the woman by name and then told her he was going to "pop" her daughter. The woman told police he knew her daughter's name and demanded she have phone sex with him or he would harm her daughter.

The woman signaled for a co-worker to call police and spoke with the man for a few minutes before he hung up. She then called her daughter and found her safe at home.

Man rescued from pond after saving dog

A 56-year-old man in a boat had to be pulled from the middle of a pond behind his home in the 8500 block of 2 Mile Road Monday night, after he rescued his neighbor's dog from the water, according to Racine County sheriff's deputies.

Reports said the man took his boat out onto the pond around 6 p.m. Monday after a neighbor's dog fell through the ice into the water. He apparently got the dog into the boat, but then the boat got stuck in the ice.

Raymond Fire and Rescue and deputies responded to the pond. Fire and rescue workers were able to throw a tow line out to the man and pull the boat in.

Charges recommended for man who took nude photos of teen

Racine County sheriff's deputies have recommended charges of sexual exploitation of a child and child enticement to the District Attorney against a 27-year-old Union Grove man, who they say took nude photographs of a teenage girl.

Reports said deputies were alerted by Kenosha authorities that during an investigation of a 17-year-old girl sending a 16-year-old boy a nude photo of herself, they were told the photo and others like it had been taken by a 27-year-old Union Grove man.

Deputies found several nude images on the 17-year-old girl's camera and she told them they had been taken by a friend in his bedroom. According to reports, deputies spoke with the man who admitted to taking the photos sometime in 2008.

n VILLAGE OF WATERFORD

Copper pipes taken from business

A copper bar system for an old furnace, worth approximately $2,000 to $3,000 if sold for scrap, was reported stolen from Waterford Aluminum, 810 Bakke Ave., to sheriff's deputies.

Reports said the pipes were taken sometime between March 9 and 12 from the business.

n MOUNT PLEASANT

Vehicles vandalized with brick

Mount Pleasant police were called to a home in the 3000 block of Phillips Avenue Monday for a report of two vehicles being vandalized.

Reports said the owner heard a thumping noise around 10:30 p.m., but didn't know what it was. He later discovered that someone had taken a landscaping brick from his front yard and smashed the windshield on his 1989 GMC truck and broken the side mirror on his 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The damage was estimated at $550.

n RACINE

Business hit by gunfire

The front window of the Pump and Pantry, 1826 Douglas Ave., was damaged by bullets Monday night after gunfire was reported coming from the parking lot, Racine police said.

Witnesses told officers that they heard several shots in the area around 11:28 p.m. Monday. One witness said immediately after he heard the gunfire, he saw a maroon or red Chevy Blazer turn off its headlights and speed out of the parking lot.

Police said no one was injured in the shooting.

Teen reports being shot at

A Horlick High School student told Racine police that someone pointed a gun at him and others in the van he was riding in Monday at 3:15 p.m. and fired toward them.

Reports said the teen called his sister for a ride home from school Monday after a fight broke out. As they were driving south on Memorial Drive, a blue car began driving recklessly behind them.

The occupants of the car told officers that the car pulled up alongside their van and a passenger in the car showed them a gun. The driver of the van pulled over, and as the car passed them, a shot was reportedly fired in their direction.

Woman flees robbery attempt

A 25-year-old woman told Racine police she was the victim of an attempted robbery Monday night while walking to the store in the 2600 block of 16th Street.

Reports said at 8:10 p.m. the woman was approached by several suspects in a white Geo Metro. She told police one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and demanded her money.

The woman said she didn't have any money and fled into the store, police said.

Snow blowers stolen from school

Two snow blowers, worth an estimated total of $1,400, were stolen from a locked shed outside Janes School, 1425 N. Wisconsin Ave., sometime between 8 p.m. Monday and 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Racine police said an employee noticed on Tuesday morning that two locks had been torn off the shed where the snow blowers were kept. He looked inside and noticed they were missing.
