RANDALL - Kenosha County Sheriff's deputies, along with Randall and Twin Lakes fire crews, were dispatched at 9:29 a.m. Monday to 9046 312th Ave. (Highway FR) for a report of a structure fire.

The fire scene is 6-1/2 miles southeast of Burlington, three miles southeast of New Munster and a mile west of Silver Lake.

Upon arrival, Deputy Eric Klinkhammer radioed that the attached garage of the home was fully involved with fire. Deputy Gene Lake arrived and determined that the fire in the garage was on the far north side and it would be safe to go into the home to ensure that there was no one inside.

Randall Fire Chief Matthew Gronke arrived on scene by himself in a fire engine. Gronke employed the assistance of Lake and Klinkhammer. Deputies fought the fire while Gronke manned the equipment on the engine. The deputies were able to extinguish the fire.

Gronke said the house could have been a total loss without the assistance of the deputies. Fire damage was limited to a portion of the garage with smoke damage throughout the garage.

The garage did contain the shell of an antique car, as well as a 1963 split window corvette and a late model Chevy Tahoe. Gronke said the fire was not suspicious in nature, although a cause was not released Monday.
