UNION GROVE - Union Grove Elementary School will begin a breakfast program for all students starting Feb. 4. The School Board took action at its December meeting to offer the program on a pilot basis for the balance of the 2007-2008 school year.
Breakfast will be served by the food service staff in the K-4 cafeteria. Breakfast will be served from 7:10 a.m. to approximately 7:35 a.m. depending on the arrival times of buses. The menu includes both cold and hot options. Cold menus will be offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and hot options being offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Menu items will include such selections as assorted cereal, fruit, biscuits with jelly, juice, milk, cheesy omelets, breakfast bacon scrambles, pancakes and French toast. The cost to students is $1 or 30 cents for those students qualifying for reduced lunch and no cost for those students qualifying for free lunch.
The same scanner system used for the lunch program will be utilized to debit the child's lunch account. This system allows children to eat without anyone knowing their economic status. Adults can eat for $1.50.
