Inclusion the topic of Saturday's ‘Education Matters'

RACINE - "What is Inclusion and Can it Work in the Classroom?" will be the topic of this Saturday's "Education Matters" program on WGTD, 91.1 FM.

Joining host Linda Flashinski will be Dr. Stacey Skoning, assistant professor of special education at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and editor of the online publication IN (Inclusion News), and Sandra Engel, executive director of the ARC of Racine. Skoning will speak to her current research on developing new teaching methods and strategies that better support all students within the educational setting. Sandy Engel will speak to the historic work of the ARC in advocating for the laws, rights and services for those with disabilities. Also joining in the conversation will be Alyson Eisch and Laura Delagrange, inclusion coaches for the Racine Unified School District who will provide a perspective on the status of inclusion in the district.

Topics discussed will be the extent to which special education students can be included in the general school population, the challenges as well as the benefits of inclusion, and how to make inclusion work in the diverse classrooms of today.

The program airs on WGTD, 91.1 FM at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
