RACINE - An 18-year-old man told Racine police he was robbed at gunpoint of the keys to a car he had just bought Thursday morning.

Reports said the man was sleeping in an apartment at 955 Washington Ave. around 5 a.m. when someone put a gun to his head and told him not to move. The victim told police the suspect then took his car keys from his pocket.

The man was told to count to 40 before getting up, or he would be shot, reports said.

Police said the victim went outside and saw his car, a 1993 Ford Taurus, still parked on the street. He told officers he walked around the block, and when he came back, the car was gone.

The victim said he had just purchased the car for $500 in Burlington the day before.

RACINE - Two men reported being robbed of their wallets and cell phones Wednesday night in the yard of a home in the 1200 block of Summit Avenue, Racine police said.

According to reports, the men, ages 27 and 28, were in the backyard of their residence at 11:20 p.m. when two suspects approached them from the alley. The suspects allegedly pulled out handguns and pointed them at the men.

The victims told officers the suspects took their wallets, cell phones and a set of keys before fleeing southbound in the alley.

RACINE - A 24-year-old man told Racine police he was cut during an attempted robbery Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in the 2700 block of Mount Pleasant Street.

Reports said the man was walking home from the grocery store when he was approached by the suspect outside an apartment building. The suspect asked the victim for money.

The victim apparently told the suspect he didn't have any, and the suspect pulled out a knife. Reports said he again demanded money, and the man repeated that he did not have any.

The suspect allegedly lunged at the man with the knife. Following a brief struggle, the suspect fled, police said.

The man was taken to Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Hospital, 3801 Spring St., by his girlfriend. Reports said he suffered cuts to his hands and a small puncture wound to his wrist.
