CALEDONIA - An expert speaker will talk about how to create a suburban woodland from native plants when Wild Ones meets at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The free meeting will be held at River Bend Nature Center, 3600 N. Green Bay Road.

In her presentation, "My Surburban Woodland," Delene Hanson will describe how she transformed an in-ground swimming pool into a naturalistic pond. She will also talk about creating a turf-stone driveway.

Hanson is the co-founder of the Wehr chapter of Wild Ones and the Milwaukee Area Land Conservancy as well as an environmental activist.

Wild Ones is a national organization based in Appleton, Wis. It promotes environmentally sound landscaping practices to encourage biodiversity through the preservation, restoration, and establishment of native plant communities. Native landscaping improves environmental quality and preserves and protects habitat.
