Man's jaw broken in attack
A 40-year-old man was seriously injured following an attack early Tuesday morning in the 1900 block of 16th Street.
Racine police said the man and his girlfriend were walking near the rear of a home at 1917 16th St. when two suspects approached and began yelling at them. Reports said they started to hit the man and used a hammer or similar object to strike him.
The man was taken to Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints hospital, 3801 Spring St., by Racine rescue. Police said he suffered a broken jaw, along with lacerations and other injuries.

OWI arrest follows crash
A 24-year-old Pell Lake man escaped injury, but not the law, after his vehicle struck an electrical pole just after 4:15 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of West State Street (Highway 36) and Kendall Street. City police arrested Randy Blood on pending charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (third offense) and operating after revocation (third offense). He was also cited for inattentive driving. The pole was severed and wires were downed. WE Energies crews responded to repair the pole.

Several charges follow traffic stop
Officers responding just after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a reckless driver on West State Street (Highway 36) near the city limits stopped a vehicle for having expired plates. Police ended up arresting Tammie Powers, 43, 127 Edward St., Burlington, on pending charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
CALEDONIA
Driver apprehended after pursuit
Village police and sheriff's deputies pursued a motorist on a short chase early Monday morning that traveled through far south Caledonia and ended in a neighborhood in far north Racine.
The pursuit started at approximately 3:30 a.m. when a Caledonia officer noticed a car travelling eastbound at a high rate of speed in the 2100 block of 3 Mile Road.
At the intersection of 3 Mile and Douglas Avenue, police said the car at the stop light was creeping in forward, as if the driver was nervous or in a hurry.
The officer activated his squad's lights and sirens and the pursued car increased its speed, reaching 70 mph at one point.
Along the way, the officer observed the operator throw something out of his window near the Vulcan gravel pit and again near the intersection of 3 Mile and LaSalle Street. He also allegedly threw something out at the intersection of Erie and 3 Mile and a sheriff's deputy confirmed finding a broken bottle of Smirnoff Ice there.
The chase continued at points on Erie Street, Thunderbird, Monterrey, Mayfair and Monticello drives. The car eventually was stopped in the 700 block of Monticello.
There, the driver Michael G. Halverson, 39, 1519 Kremer, Caledonia, allegedly refused to comply with officer orders to stop walking toward police and to get on the ground. As police tried to bring Halverson into custody, they used an electric Taser to subdue him. After he was checked by Racine paramedics, Halverson was taken to the county jail. He is facing pending charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and knowingly fleeing an officer and a citation for speeding.
RACINE
Suspects apprehended in lottery ticket theft
Two Racine men were arrested on pending charges of burglary and obstruction after they allegedly took 1,536 lottery tickets in a smash-and-grab burglary just before 10:50 p.m. Sunday at Mitch and Marty's Citgo, 2101 Douglas Ave.
An officer located the suspects a short time later in the vicinity of North Memorial Drive and Rapids Drive. Taken into custody were Terry Lee Lagrone, 49, 1128 Marquette St., and Rickey Franklin, 46, 1842 Blake Ave.
RACINE
Man facing charges of assaulting youth
A 46-year-old Racine man is facing pending charges of physical abuse of a child and resisting arrest/obstructing after he allegedly attacked a 15-year-old male ralation just before 1 a.m. Thursday at a residence in the 3400 block of Oakwood Drive.
According to police reports, the incident may have started over anger about a light being left on. Reports said the youth was allegedly hit in the face with a fist, held in a choke hold and bit on the hand. Police described the injuries as minor.
Arrested was Henry G. Hansen, 46, of the address.
WIND POINT
Truck plastered with food
A resident living in the 100 block of Lamplighter Court discovered just before 9:30 a.m. May 31 that his Chevrolet truck has been covered with salsa, cereal, cheese and hot dogs. The vandalism occurred some time after 11 p.m. the night before, Sheriff's Department reports indicate.
There was no permanent damage to the vehicle and deputies theorized the vandalism may have been the result of a senior prank. The complainant's daughter is a senior at the Prairie School.
ELMWOOD PARK
Floor solution explodes
There were no injuries when floor stripping solution exploded and briefly caught fire just before 1:30 p.m. May 31 at the Lecrone residence, 3326 Green Meadows Lane.
According to Sheriff's Department reports, the pilot flame from a hot water heater may have caused the explosion. When Racine firefighters arrived, they found smoky conditions and only a paint roller left burning. Firefighters ventilated the house.
RACINE
No injuries in rollover crash
There were no injuries when two cars collided and one rolled over just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of 21st and Orchard streets.
Police said Trina C. Candido, 18, 2619 Graceland Blvd., Racine, was driving a 2008 Saturn SUV southbound on Orchard when she failed to stop at the stop sign at 21st. The Saturn struck a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by Anthony W. Kenyon, 17, of Racine, which was westbound on 21st. The SUV then overturned onto its roof.
An 18-year-old Racine man was in Candido's car. He, too, was not hurt.
Candido was cited for failure to stop and operating a vehicle without a valid license.
BRIGHTON
Road signs stolen
Kenosha County Sheriff's deputies took a report Tuesday regarding the theft of a stop sign and weight-limit sign on northbound 224th Avenue at the Highway 142 intersection, just 2-1/2 miles south of the Racine County and Town of Dover line and just east of Highway 75.
The Sheriff's Department reported it had no suspects in the theft, which occurred some time between May 30 and Monday morning. County highway crews replaced the signs.
NORWAY
Women scare off stranger
A 39-year-old Wind Lake woman told town police that at 6:45 p.m. May 21 she was walking with her children and a neighbor and her children on the bike path near Meyer Park when an unknown white male jumped out of some bushes and started walking toward the women.
The women tried to make a protective ring around their kids and the woman who filed the complaint positioned her house key between her thumb and forefinger in preparation to use it as a weapon.
After the women yelled at the man, he suddenly stopped, looked startled and ran away.
The man was described as being between 5-foot 7-inches to 5-foot 9-inches in height, having brown hair, olive skin and was wearing a western-style shirt and jeans.
