RACINE - The mother of a missing 18-year-old woman is extremely worried about her daughter, and is asking for the community's help to find her.

Carol Brown said her daughter, Carrie M. Mack, is schizophrenic and bipolar and has not been taking her medication. "She's in a vulnerable state of mind," Brown said. "Her mind turns against her. She loses touch with reality."

Brown has reported her daughter missing to Racine police, and is asking anyone who may have seen Mack in the past two weeks to call authorities.

"The longer she stays off her meds, she can become violent," Brown said. "She can become a danger to herself and others."

Mack said her daughter's highly manic state is what prompted her to try and take her to the hospital on May 26. But when she told Mack what they were doing, her daughter got out of the car. "She took off," Brown said.

A few hours later, Brown got a call from her daughter. She was at Gateway Technical College, where she is a student, calling from an instructor's office. Mack told her mother she was OK, that she was going to get her nails done, get something to eat and then turn herself into the hospital.

That never happened, and Brown hasn't heard from her daughter since.

"I'm very scared for her safety right now," Brown said.

Mack has been seen a few times since then by other people, according to her mom. On May 31 someone said Mack was at Second Baptist Church on Lathrop Avenue, but became disruptive.

Others said she was staying on Jacato Drive, but residents there told Brown they haven't seen Mack since June 2.

Then on Thursday, someone saw Mack at the Total 24 gas station at 930 Washington Ave. Her mom said Mack was seen in a light to medium blue Cadillac Seville with a short body style. The driver of the car apparently was choking Mack.

"Somebody has to know that car," Brown said.

When she is in a manic state, Mack can become very dramatic and religious, her mother said. She goes by the name Meme.

Police said Mack's last known address is 4121 13th St.

Brown wants the community to know that when her daughter is well, she is an excellent mother to her 2-year-old son and very intelligent.

Anyone who comes into contact with Brown or has seen her in the past two weeks is asked to call Racine police at (262) 635-7756 or Crime Stoppers at (262) 636-9330. Information can be sent to Crime Stoppers via e-mail at http://racine.crimestoppersweb.com, or by sending a text message to CRIMES (274637) and entering TIP417 and your message.
