RACINE COUNTY - There are more than 40,000 unclaimed property accounts in Racine County worth more than $6.5 million, according to the state treasurer's office.
State Treasurer Dawn Marie Sass will meet with the Racine County Board Tuesday to discuss unclaimed property and other programs run by her office.
Sass will also visit the Walworth Public Library, 101 Maple Ave., Walworth, from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday with the Unclaimed Property database to help people search for lost and forgotten property. Walworth County has more than 19,000 unclaimed property accounts worth more than $3.0 million.
There are more than one million unclaimed property accounts in Wisconsin totaling more than $350 million.
Record amounts of unclaimed property have been returned to the rightful owners since the outreach tour began more than two years ago, according to Sass's office.
