RACINE - For $30,000, you could own an art gallery.
That is the asking price for Monfort's Fine Art Gallery, 430 Main St. The owners, Ray and Miriam Hoyum, said they will either move the gallery to Steamboat Springs, Colo., or sell it if there is a buyer. Either way, they will open another Monfort's gallery in Steamboat Springs, where their daughter and son-in-law live and will run that gallery.
They also own a Monfort's gallery in Atlanta.
Ray Hoyum said Thursday that $30,000 is a "fraction" of what the business is really worth.
If there is no buyer for the Racine gallery, the Hoyums said they will close Monfort's by the end of the year, when their lease runs out.
The listing agent for the business is Curtin & Associates, (262) 681-6379.
Downtown Racine Corp. is also trying to help find a buyer.
