Woman robbed of cell phone

Racine police said a 42-year-old woman was robbed of her cell phone Thursday morning while sitting in her car at 19th Street and Taylor Avenue.

Reports said the woman was parked near her boyfriend's apartment. She had knocked on the door, but didn't get a response, so she sat in her car.

The woman told police she was talking on the phone when the suspect opened her car door and demanded her phone and money. Reports said she flicked her lit cigarette at the suspect, who then punched her in the face.

Police said the suspect grabbed the phone and fled the area.

Jewelry taken in burglary

A resident of a home in the 1400 block of Clark Street reported $22,500 worth of jewelry stolen during a break-in the afternoon of July 25, according to Racine police.

Reports said the resident came home at 5 p.m. and found someone had cut the screen to the kitchen window, and gained access to the house through the open window.

Car fire intentionally set

Racine police and fire were called to a car fire Wednesday night in the 2300 block of W. High Street.

Reports said firefighters told officers the 2000 Cadillac STS had been intentionally set on fire.

Police spoke with the owner of the car, who said he had just gotten it out of the impound lot earlier in the day. He told officer he and another man has left his house around 10 p.m. and when they returned they found the car on fire.

The car windows had been left open.
