People You Should Know: Chuck Mano

Posted: Saturday, January 5, 2008 12:00 am

Name: Chuck Mano

Age: 38

Personal/family: Married to Kim for 12 years. Three children: Michaela 10, Zachary 8, Samantha 4

Hobbies/interests: Camping, hunting, ATV riding

Occupation: Fence contractor

Volunteer service: Local Chapter of the American Fence Association, Haban Hitting Center, Habitat for Humanity. I also recently donated time and a kennel for Bones, our Mount Pleasant K-9 unit. Anyone who truly needs help I will go out of my way to assist. Every year I donate to Charlie French's neighborhood watch

program. Kids from other states join their churches and come to Racine to rehab homes.

Recent accomplishment: Participated in the 2007 Jimmy Carter Work Project in Los Angeles. Volunteers from all over the world helped Habitat for Humanity build homes for the needy in Los Angeles.

Why is it important? I helped a family start a new life in south-central L.A. I can't save the world, but it's the little things that count.

One choice of a dinner companion, dead or alive: Call me crazy but it would be Steve Martin. I love to laugh and would want the experience to be fun. Save the politicians and other leaders for something else.

First job/weirdest job: Working as an aide in a group home. It was my first experience working with challenged individuals.

My friends describe me as: As generous, responsible and yet the prankster.

Person I admire most: Would be my mother. My mother has been the backbone of our family. Looking back she has done so much for us and is truly on her way to sainthood.

What I miss most from my childhood: The innocence of youth and knee joints that don't crack.

In the next five years I would like to accomplish: Volunteering as much as I can and anything that involves quality family time.
