Woman fends off abduction attempt
A 26-year-old Caledonia woman told Racine police she fended off an apparent abduction attempt Sunday night in the 1500 block of Villa Street.
According to police reports, the victim was walking northbound on Villa at approximately 8:30 p.m. when two men, approximately 18 to 20 in age, pulled up along side her and tried to order her into the car. One of the suspects then tried to grab her and pull her into the vehicle. The woman fought back and the suspects eventually drove off.
The report did not indicate if the woman suffered an injuries in the attack.
RACINE
Woman seriously hurt in assault
A 32-year-old Racine woman received what police describe as serious injuries in an assault that occurred Friday afternoon in the parking lot at 3021 Washington Avenue.
According to witness accounts, the woman was punched just before 3:15 p.m. in the face by an unknown male who left the scene by vehicle eastbound on 12th Street.
The woman later told police she did not know the attacker. She was taken by Racine paramedics to Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints, 3801 Spring St., where reports indicate she was treated for a possible broken nose, a laceration on the bridge of the nose and a possible concussion.
RACINE
Car crashes into pole
A 23-year-old Racine man suffered what police describe as serious injuries after a car crashed into an electrical pole just before 5:40 a.m. Sunday on Marquette Street, just south of West Street.
Police reports indicate that Brandon J. Hand, 23, 1244 Villa St., was driving a 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass northbound on Marquette when he veered across the southbound lane hit a curb and crashed into the pole.
Hand allegedly told police he did not recall what happened prior to the crash. He was cited for speeding.
The Cutlass incurred "very severe" damage, according to reports.
RACINE
Wrist possibly broken in attack
A 41-year-old Racine man suffered bumps, scrapes and a possible broken wrist after he was mugged between 7 and 8 p.m. Aug. 17 near the intersection of 13th Street and Washington Avenue.
According to the victim, a group of 10 to 15 16- to 20-year-olds approached him and asked for a cigarette. The group then started assaulting the man. A passerby scared off the attackers, reports indicate.
RACINE
Store employees detain theft suspect
Store personnel at the Pick 'n Save store, 2210 Rapids Drive, wrestled with a shoplifting suspect until police could arrive just before 4:45 p.m. Aug. 17.
According to police, Joe L. Hayes, 53, 2124 Virginia St., Racine, tried to leave the store without paying for two cases of beer. A crack pipe was found during his arrest, reports indicate.
Hayes has been charged with retail theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor and felony bail jumping and disorderly conduct.
CITY OF BURLINGTON
Several arrests follow fight
City police received numerous calls just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday regarding a fight between approximately four subjects in front of 532 Edgewood Drive. Tonya Gilbert, 18, of Waterford was cited for an underage alcohol violation and possession of paraphernalia; Cody Broadway, 21, of Burlington, was cited for disorderly conduct and obstructing; Timothy Irwin, 20, of Waterford was cited for disorderly conduct and taken into custody on a probation hold.
RACINE
Handgun found in traffic stop
Three people were arrested just before 3 a.m. Aug. 16 after a sheriff's unit on special assignment stopped a car at Washington and Hayes avenues for speeding and excessive noise. A handgun was found during the stop, reports indicate.
Leonta Willis, 27, 1729 Center St., was charged with being party to a crime of carrying a concealed weaopm. Larry Preston Pearson, 29, 1703 Blaine Ave., was also cited for being party to a crime of carrying a concealed weapon and for having open intoxicants in a vehicle; and Ayana Hayes, 35, 620 DeKoven Ave., was charged with being party to a crime of carrying a concealed weapon.

Two businesses hit in burglary
Cash, computer equipment and a television were taken in a break-in between the evening of Aug. 14 and the early morning of Aug. 15 at the building that houses Romme Printing Co, and It's All About You Salon/Spa, 3321 Rapids Drive.
Police said a west side window was broken with a large brick.
RACINE
Woman sought in assault
A 53-year-old Racine woman received a 1-inch cut to her head and may have passed out as a result of an assault just before 2 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of Layard Avenue.
The suspect in the case if a 38-year-old local woman and police said the incident may have started because of name calling and the spreading of rumors. Police may request charges of substantial battery once the suspect is located.

Cash taken in burglary
An estimated $400 in cash was taken in a burglary that occurred between late on the afternoon of Aug. 14 and 9:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at a residence in the 600 block of Blaine Avenue. A back door window was broken to gain entry.
RACINE
Man facing vandalism charge
Jeremy Schabel, 32, 721 Hubbard St., was charged with criminal damage and obstructing after he allegedly broke a 6-foot by 3-foot window early Sunday morning at Kenny's Bar 1300 N. Main St.
RACINE
Teen mugged by mob
A 16-year-old teen said he was robbed of his cell phone and skateboard after he was mugged by as many as 10 male teens or men at approximately 10 p.m. Aug. 16 in the 1500 block of Blaine Avenue.
The teen said he was kicked in the head and knocked out during the attack. Police said there were no signs of visible injuries when they were called by the boy's father the next morning to take a report.
RACINE
Rocks thrown at vehicle
A 25-year-old Racine woman said three men threw large rocks at her car as she was travelling just before 11:45 p.m. Aug. 16 on Spring Street near Luedtke Avenue. The suspects then allegedly fled in am older model green Volkswagen.
Police said a partial license plate was given to police. Damage to the 2003 Pontiac is estimated at $700.
RACINE
Business burglarized
A flat screen television and three car stereos were discovered missing Sunday morning after a break-in at Sounds Good on Wheels, 3440 Douglas Ave. Police discovered the break-in after responding to a burglar alarm just after 7:30 a.m. Aug. 17.
TOWN OF ROCHESTER
Beer, electronics missing from home
A 23-inch flat screen television, an X-box with controllers, nine X-box games, and a 12-pack of Miller Lite beer were taken some time between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Aug. 14 from a residence in the 29000 block of Clover Lane.
Sheriff's Department reports indicate that access was apparently gained through and unlocked garage.
