STURTEVANT - An indoor soccer facility, with two fields inside a 90,000-square-foot building, is planned for Renaissance Business Park.
Village Administrator Mark Janiuk said the Planning Commission on Monday was receptive to the proposal if parking and traffic flow issues could be worked out.
"If (it happens), it will be a plus for Sturtevant and draw for all the county," Janiuk said. "Soccer is a popular sport in Racine. People who are excited about soccer will be happy. It will help people continue to play year-round."
The Planning Commission also considered a plan by Ashley Capital, a national development group located in New York. Their proposal is for construction of an 86-acre business park on West Road. The site is off Highway H near the new SC Johnson distribution center.
The proposal is for three buildings - two in Sturtevant and one in Mount Pleasant, Janiuk said. The combined area of the three buildings will be more than 1 million square feet of space.
Both proposals will be back before the Planning Commission on Aug. 7.
