KENOSHA COUNTY - Three Wilmot High School students sustained serious injuries when an SUV spun off a rural highway and struck a tree in the Town of Randall.
The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department said the crash occurred at 1:23 p.m. Tuesday in the 33900 block of Highway F. The accident site is located about five miles south of Burlington and just east of Twin Lakes.
Initial reports indicate that the 2001 Chevy Blazer was westbound on Highway F when it lost control in the curves of the slick roadway. The vehicle spun off the road and struck a tree on the south side of the road.
Deputies said that two of the injured appeared to be critical. They were taken by Flight for Life from the scene to the Milwaukee Area Medical Complex. One victim was transported by local rescue crews to Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington, 252 McHenry St. The Sheriff's Department said the victims' identities are being withheld until family members can be contacted.
Traffic was diverted on Highway F for approximately two hours while the accident scene was investigated and cleared. The investigation is continuing, the Sheriff's Department said.
