CALEDONIA - A 28-year-old Caledonia woman had to be extricated from her Jeep Grand Cherokee after she was involved in a three-vehicle accident in the 3600 block of Four Mile Road shortly after noon Saturday.

Michaelle Patmore suffered serious injuries when she was hit head on by the driver of a pick-up truck who had reportedly passed out, according to rescue personnel at the scene.

The force of the collision pinned Patmore in her vehicle. It took roughly an hour for crews to pry Patmore out from the drivers' side of the overturned vehicle.

Patmore was taken by Flight for Life to Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Wauwatosa.

Family members said Patmore was returning from a shopping trip with her four-year-old son, Aidan, who was pulled out of the vehicle by a passerby who was the first to arrive on the scene. Witnesses said that it did not appear that the boy suffered any serious injuries, but was shaken-up by the accident.

The crash happened not far from Patmore's home. Both Patmore and her son were wearing seat belts, a witness said.

Witnesses at the scene said they found the man who was driving the pick-up truck that hit Patmore lying on the ground complaining of chest pains. He had told witnesses that he blacked out. The man had sideswiped another vehicle before colliding with Patmore.

Police at the scene said they did not smell any alcohol when they talked to the man before he was taken to the hospital. His name has not yet been released. The man was taken by rescue crews to Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints hospital, 3801 Spring St.
