Man robbed at Main and Hamilton streets

Racine police were flagged down by a 24-year-old man Wednesday morning at 3:12 a.m. who said he had just been robbed.

Reports said the man had been walking from a Downtown bar when he met up with the suspect on the Main Street bridge. Together they began walking north on Main Street, the man told police.

In the area of Main and Hamilton streets the suspect asked the man for a cigarette, reports said. After being given a cigarette, the suspect allegedly pushed the man, took $24 from his pocket and fled.

Police said the suspect was described as a black man, age 17 to 21, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 160 pounds, wearing jean shorts and a black hoodie. Reports said he was last seen running west on Hubbard Avenue.

Teen robbed of cash, bike

A 15-year-old boy went to the Racine Police Department Monday to report being robbed in the 1000 block of Pershing Park Drive at 5:40 p.m.

Reports said the teen had just left the skate park and was riding his bike toward the Racine Public Library when the suspect punched him in the back of the head. Police said the teen was knocked from his bike and the suspect took $70 from his pocket and his bike.

The teen's dirt bike is worth an estimated $900.

According to reports, the suspect was described as a black man with long hair and scruffy facial hair. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a red T-shirt, black jeans and a black do-rag on his head.

Woman assaulted by sister

An 18-year-old woman was assaulted by her sister Tuesday night at an apartment in the 2500 block of Jacato Drive, according to Racine police.

Reports said the woman was visiting her sister's apartment when her sister accused her of talking about her to someone on the woman's cell phone. The woman told police her sister punched her in the face and then began to punch her repeatedly.

The victim was taken home by her mother and Racine rescue was called. The woman received preliminary treatment by rescue workers, but refused transportation to the hospital.

Reports said the woman may have suffered a broken nose in the attack.

Suspicious fire after burglary

Racine police and firefighters were called to a fire in the alley behind the 1800 block of Center Street Sunday at 1:18 p.m.

After firefighters extinguished the fire, police found it was a burning bag of clothes, shoes and personal papers, according to reports.

Police said two hours earlier they had taken a report of a burglary from a nearby home in the 800 block of 18th Street. Stolen from that residence was clothing, shoes and makeup.
