YORKVILLE - Motocross bikes, combines, tigers and more are coming to this year's Racine County Fair.
In addition to old-time favorites like the petting pen and pony rides for the kids, and motorcycle trials and the tractor and truck pull for the parents, are new highlights such as the Freestyle Motocross Jump Off, the Combine Demo Derby, the Royal Bengal Tiger show and a Mutts Gone Nutts show, said Scott Gunderson, president of the fair.
Gunderson said he expected the Combined Demo Derby after the Tractor and Truck Pull Wednesday night will be really popular.
Instead of the traditional rodeo Thursday night, Gunderson said there will be the motocross jump off, which will be scored and judged.
Also new this year is a youth talent contest, "Got Talent," Wednesday afternoon after the opening ceremony at noon and a "Rock Band 2" contest Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m., both on the new Runzheimer International stage at the west end of the fairgrounds. On Wednesday and Friday at 7 p.m. will be the Fair Idol contest semi-final and final on the stage.
There will be about 30 bands from southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois playing live music on the Runzheimer stage every day at the fair, Gunderson said.
A new show in the children's area is "KidBuck$ Game Show," where kids in the audience go on the stage and play a game show and returning favorites are the "Kids are People Too" and the Zoppe circus.
